One child was strapped onto my back while another crawled around in the playground. I worked 12 hour days for months sanding and removing wallpaper, with one child. Ha! It was all starting to take shape, however it wasn't quite finished. To complete this task I was ready to invest a significant amount of time and money searching for the perfect home. Once our home was furnished, I still couldn't give up! I had a space on the local market, and even sold some items there. Then, my collection got so large that the room that I was living in was inadequate. In my own home, I began hosting open houses, where over 1000 people could come in and purchase any product they wanted from the first floor over the course of a weekend. My company Growing Days began here. While my company grew as did our family. The balance was between the start of a company as well as being a mom. Growing Days seemed like the best combination. My precious Nora arrived in the year 2013, our 4th child. The direction my company was heading was fantastic, but I had to take some time off. I took some time away from furniture that was vintage to enjoy some quality time with my family. In the beginning, this was exactly what I needed. It wasn't until a couple of months that the phones started to be ringing. There were calls from people asking me for help with the interior design and renovations of their home. They had mainly visited my house at the open houses to purchase furniture. While I was working I added new customers to my client list in a series of. It wasn't too that long before I was managing several clients, and had a profitable home improvement business. It is likely that I would have laughed if somebody had informed me that my venture was going to be part of a forthcoming television show on DIY Network. It's funny to think back on the idea.
